HANDCUFFING POLICE, UNLEASHING CRIMINALS: THE LEFT'S WAR ON PUBLIC SAFETY

I don’t often talk about myself, but I’ve spent the last 45 years in security and law enforcement—training thousands of police officers, medical staff, school faculty, and women on crime prevention, safety, defensive tactics, and the use of force. I’ve protected healthcare workers, elderly patients, children, and infants, and designed security systems for hospitals, schools, businesses, and homes. And through it all, one truth remains clear: police know who commits crimes and where they occur—but without real authority and support, those criminals go unpunished. If law enforcement were empowered properly, crime could be slashed without invading rights.

Yet sadly, the left consistently undermines policing—legalizing criminal acts, cutting budgets, and promoting policies that embolden offenders while tying protective hands. Their favored solutions—social programs, so-called “police reform,” criminal justice reform, gun control—only make communities less safe.

On Social Programs: Shoveling public funds into welfare or community programs hasn’t lowered crime—it’s bred dependency and weakened accountability. Crime stems from broken families and permissive policies—not poverty. Real solutions: enforce the law, demand personal responsibility, strengthen families, and support our police.

On Police Reform: The “systemic racism” narrative unfairly vilifies officers. Incidents of excessive force are outliers—already addressed by internal processes. What citizens need are strong, supported law enforcers—not reforms that deprive them of effectiveness in the name of political optics.

On Criminal Justice Reform: Lowering incarceration feeds crime. Letting offenders, even non-violent ones, off easy emboldens repeat behavior and hazards public safety. True justice protects victims and holds criminals accountable.

On Gun Control: Stricter laws only disarm the law-abiding. Criminals don’t follow rules. Gun control might soothe feelings, but it doesn’t stop crime—and history proves that. Disarming Americans threatens freedom itself. The 2nd Amendment was created to protect the populace from the government which is becoming more apparent as a necessity.

On Mass Shootings: The rise of school shootings is the heartbreak of a nation. Troublingly, many shooters today are struggling with serious identity and mental health issues. A growing number identify as transgender. I’m not speaking from hate—I respect individuals—but denying that gender dysphoria is a mental health issue is dangerous. If treated and addressed, shooters might never gain firearm access in the first place. This is about protecting children—not politics.

On Leadership and Results: Law and order work—when enforced. President Trump proved this in DC and beyond, showing concrete drops in crime when law enforcement is unleashed. But the gold-standard example comes from Rudy Giuliani in New York.

When Giuliani became mayor in 1994, NYC was seen as a danger zone. Critics said nothing could be done. Giuliani proved them wrong. Between 1993 and 1998, overall crime plummeted by about 49%, and murders dropped by nearly 69%—the lowest levels seen since 1966.

Between 1993 and 2001, major felony offenses declined by over 62%, and the murder rate was halved relative to national levels—far exceeding trends across the country. Many attribute these results to aggressive policing, CompStat accountability, and a “broken windows” strategy—cracking down on minor offenses to stop major ones.

A clear proof of powerful leadership. Yet as soon as those policies were undone, crime surged again reminding us that neglect of law and order revitalizes lawlessness.

Nothing beats accountability, bold policing, and respect for law—not social spending or soft policies that handcuff the good and strengthen the bad. We must back our police, punish criminals, secure our children, and restore personal responsibility—because safety can’t wait, and freedom can’t gamble on ideology. Anything less is politics over public protection.
