Welcome to the special July 4th edition of Webber’s Whipping Post.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, our Founding Fathers gathered in Philadelphia, drafted and signed a document that changed the course of human history. Against overwhelming odds, they unleashed an experiment in self-government that many believed could never succeed.

For two and a half centuries, America has endured wars, economic depressions, political scandals, and every imaginable disagreement. We have stumbled along the way but through it all, the American experiment has survived, making us the envy of the world.

That is worth celebrating, and grandiosely at that.
