Writing this column is sometimes challenging. Usually, a general idea of what to say is formed and words start magically lining up in my noggin'. However, this normally happens while I’m golfing, driving or showering - with no way to write thoughts down. I then forget the words which causes me to start all over again, waiting for the magic mojo to reappear.
This past week was shaping up to be no different, but then former first lady, Michelle “Mooch” Obama gave me an unforgettable jolt with her absurd speech at the opening of the “virtual” Democratic Convention. It’s virtual so Hidin’ Biden can remain in his Delaware basement. (Is a “virtual convention” an oxymoron?)
You remember poor Mooch, never able to be proud of her country until her husband won the presidency. Since, she’s lived like a queen on our dime. Later, we found out all that affluence still gave her depression. It’s called a conscience, Michelle!
Critics of her speech homed in on comments that Trump was “in over his head” or was the “wrong president for our country.” The main-stream-media fawned over her remarks, as if Jesus came to enlighten them. She recorded her Trump-bashing speech from one of her palatial residences a week in advance. It kicked off the theme for the rest of the convention – putting a thump on Trump rather than what they will do for us.
I wondered if, having co-existed in the White House for eight years, this woman might have become an expert in knowing when someone is “in over his head,” or “the wrong president.” She lived through it firsthand when her husband sat in the Oval Office with his feet up on the Resolute Desk. That realization gave me cause for concern, but considering the source, I let it go. Would you expect anything else in the Trump era – the Democrats not telling us what they can do; just criticizing the guy in the arena doing it?
The part of her scolding that grabbed my attention though was the statement, “If you think things cannot possibly get worse, trust me, they can, and they will if we don’t make a change in this election.” Was that a threat?
In the year 2020, where we have seen more bizarre events than any generation before us, none of which were the fault of the President, that statement seemed sinister to me. Might she know something we don’t? I feel like we’ve been warned, don’t vote for Trump, or else.
The Democratic voter today is an enigma. I know intelligent people who are Democrats. I also know some liberals who are, quite frankly, ill-informed to put it nicely. Then there are those just looking for a handout or doing as told.
In conversations with friends, we can’t understand how anyone can intellectually or morally back the current liberal ideology. How can reasonably intelligent people not be able to see through the political indiscretions of the likes of the Obama’s, Pelosi, Schumer, the Clinton’s, and their ilk? They all live like royalty, making themselves fabulously wealthy off our toil and sweat. Are hardworking Democrats oblivious that those people use their money to enrich themselves?
Democrats ignore, or justify, the anarchy destroying our major cities – is that really the way liberals believe society should behave? This problem never got addressed at the convention. Do BLM supporters really want to exist in a society with less police? If you can believe the poll, four out of five black folks polled don’t want less police.
How would anyone possibly consider voting for an aging Joe Biden, suffering what appears the onset of dementia, hibernating in his basement, to lead our nation? Are Democrats not concerned with Biden, or worse - Hunter Biden, interacting with the leaders of China or Russia? If Biden is forced out are Democrats comfortable under the direction of the far-left leaning loon, Kamala Harris?
How can forty-five million people belong to a party that supports killing babies? What part of “thou shall not kill,” is not understandable?
What is it about Trump Derangement Syndrome that makes people so blind with rage that they will overlook the breakdown of our country going on right before our eyes? Why would Democrats consider Biden when the Obama/Biden administration accomplished so little for eight years?
For example, in that time:
Why didn’t they take care of the supposed “systemic race issues?”
Why didn’t they resupply the emergency needs, such as masks and generators that were evidently in so short supply at the onset of the pandemic?
Why didn’t they stop people coming in from China like Trump tried to do before being accused of being a xenophobe?
The list goes on, and of course, I will get no intelligent rebuttal from this commentary, which is a shame.
Well, next week the Republican convention starts, so that should give me some more fodder for a column, if I can only remember.
